Course Sectors

Studies of the Graphic Design School are organised based on three main Sectors of Courses:

Sector of Graphic Design Courses is responsible for the teaching of the following courses:
Letters and Numbers (, II, III), Typography, Lettering Art, Graphic Design (, II, III, IV, V, VI, VII), Illustration, Introduction in Informatics, Digital Graphic Design (, II), Semiotics, Specifics of Photography - Graphic Design (, , ), Multimedia.

In the Graphic Design Sector, through the courses on Typography, Lettering Art, Semiotics, Visual Communication and Graphic Design that are being taught in all semesters, a great effort is put together so that the student should be able to combine this field of knowledge with what he / she learns from the Graphic Technology and the Visual Arts Sector, in order to master the language of how to design a visual message.
This sector is essentially the largest and the most composite as far as the combination of teaching hours and academic subjects is concerned, given that this is where the basic principles of letter design and of the use of the aesthetic qualities of fonts are taught, allowing the student to acquire all the necessary skills for creating a channel for visual communication for all kinds of applications.
The students of these courses are encouraged to develop their own ways of expression and their own aesthetic judgment on topics like the design of logos, books, magazines, adverts, web pages, animated graphics etc.
The gradual compilation of a project portfolio, which is put together through the course assignments of all semesters, plays a crucial part in the general evaluation of the work of every student. The portfolio is the passport that will give the student access to the job market and to a postgraduate degree.

Sector of Visual Arts Courses is responsible for the teaching of the following courses:
Philosophy - Aesthetics, Introduction to Design (, ), Freehand Sketching - Colour (, , , V), History of Art and Graphic Design (, II, , IV, V, VI), Colour - Sketching, Digital Image Processing

This sector offers courses on Visual Arts that are fundamental for offering a general education on aesthetics and on the basic principals and laws of sketching and painting, concerning both its creative and its purely theoretical elements.
Through this sort of knowledge the student begins to master visual language, its means and its techniques. He/she starts developing skills in creating images and compositions, as well as in analyzing and making critique, skills that he/she will successfully utilize in courses of other sectors and of course in the development of his/her own work in the field of Graphic Design.

Sector of Graphic Technology & Communication Courses is responsible for the teaching of the following courses: Industrial Design, Linear Design (, ), Advertising, Market Research, Foreign Language (, , ), Graphic Design for Interiors and Exteriors, Publication Budget, Photography (, , ).

The courses of the Graphic Technology sector are crucial for establishing the necessary skills for operating the tools of image design. The courses will introduce basic principles along with more advanced concepts on perspective, industrial design, photography and animation.
Through these courses the student is equipped with aesthetic criteria and design abilities that will help him/her grasp the dynamics of the visual language of industrial design, as well as the dynamics of placing a design into a given space, the atmosphere of the photographic language and the principles of composing a script and bringing animated images to life.
